Adriana Sunun
Adriana Sunun (Maya Kakchiquel) is an attorney and legal advisor at the Mayan Lawyers Association. She has five years’ experience supporting judicial processes in the defense of Indigenous Peoples’ individual and collective rights in cases of criminalization, freedom of expression, and defense of land and territory, with training on international and constitutional rights. She also provides legal assistance to families separated at the US-Mexico border.
She is currently part of an international legal team that provided counsel on a groundbreaking case at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights guaranteeing Indigenous Peoples right to freedom of expression via community radio in Guatemala. She is from Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
